Stima stop Leopards on their tracks

AFC Leopards were undone by a double strike from Western Stima’s Victor Ochieng’ on Saturday in Kisumu, a result that halted Zdravko Logarusic’s three match winning streak in the Kenyan Premier League.

Thika United also bagged maximum points with a 1-0 victory over Sony Sugar, whilst Ulinzi Stars shared the spoils with City Stars in Nakuru.

Leopards custodian Wycliffe Kasaya was partly to blame for the first goal that his team conceded by letting a 20 yard strike from second half substitute Ochieng’ slip through his hands and into the back of the net.

But Kasaya could do little to stop Ochieng’s strike from 30 yards, that almost ripped off the net.

“I have never lost to AFC Leopards since 1983, and am not about to start losing today” Stima coach Henry Omino said after the match.

At Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, Ulinzi scored first through Oscar Wamalwa ten minutes to the break, but Stars responded at the hour mark through Joseph Sakwa.

In the day’s other match, Harambee Stars trialist Kennedy Otieno scored the lone goal in Thika United’s victory over Sony Sugar at the latter’s Awendo backyard.
