Oliech’s brother speaks on player’s move

Dennis Oliech’s local manager says the player’s opted to quit playing football in Europe in favour of the Gulf after he received an “irresistible” offer.

The former Harambee Stars captain ended his decade long career in Europe on Thursday after agreeing to terminate the remainder of his six month contract with French Ligue 2 side Ajaccio to join Al Saad in Dubai.

This decision, according to the player’s manager and elder brother Nixon, is in the best interests of the forward at this stage of his career.

“He has played in the Middle East before, so he will be familiar with the surroundings and the expectations,” Nixon said.

“The offer was too good to resist, but we wish to thank his soon to be former employers for assisting us to make this transfer happen,” he added.

DETAILS OF CONTRACT

Nixon did not however discuss details of the contract although it is rumoured that Oliech has been offered a three year deal worth an estimated Sh 12 million a month salary after tax.

The former Harambee Stars captain launched his professional football career in 2003 with Qatari side  Al Arabi where he stayed for two years.

In 2005 he moved to French Ligue 1 side Nantes and subsequently played for Auxerre and Ajaccio.
