Nuttall, Logarusic itching for Mashemeji derby

Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards coaches have given their final thoughts on the much anticipated Mashemeji derby on Sunday afternoon at the Nyayo National Stdium.

While Gor’s Frank Nuttall has down played the significance of the encounter terming it as “just another game”, his opposite number Zradvko Logarusic has said his team will be seeking to bring to an end K’Ogalo perfect run in the Kenyan Premier League this season.

Gor Mahia, who are unbeaten in 22 league matches this season, gave a cagey display in their last league match against bottom side Nakuru All Stars midweek.

After that match, Nuttall told the fans that to expect to win every single match is to be disrespectful to the other teams adding that “has not been thinking much about the derby”.

“The draw is a fair result considering the fact that we were playing a team that has not been together for long. I know the fans are always hungry for victory, but expecting to win in every match is truly disrespectful for the other teams.”

IMPECCABLE RECORD

“Honestly I haven’t been thinking much about the derby. I have been busy thinking about this match and I think that (derby) is just one of the eight remaining matches that need to be won,” Nuttall said.

Meanwhile, Logarusic, who watched the match between Gor and All Stars from the stands paper and pen in hand, has publicly declared that he wants to ruin K’Ogalo’s impeccable record.

“Gor is a good side with an impeccable record. You’ve got to give them that. But we are calm because we know we don’t have any chance to win this title. We only need to play football and I know that we can win the match because nothing is impossible,” Logarusic told Daily Nation Sport.

In the other matches scheduled for this weekend, GOtv Shield holders Sofapaka will take their diminishing title charge to Machakos where they will face Muhoroni Youth.

Muhoroni are unbeaten in their last nine matches, while Batoto ba Mungu have been unimpressive throughout the 2015 season.

At the Thika Stadium, Thika United will begin life without coach Tim Bryett who resigned on Sunday, with a match against Ushuru on Sunday.
