Matasi invites sweetheart to Addis, wishes Kenyans prosperous 2019

Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has flown his sweetheart to Addis Ababa to ‘keep him company’ during the festive season.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Matasi also thanked Kenyans for all the support they offered him and the national football team in 2018.

The 29-year-old wished Kenyans a fruitful 2019, while also promising that the national team ‘will not let Kenyans down’ during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which will be held either in South Africa or Egypt.

“We managed to set new records in 2018, but this was only possible because of the support from our fans,” said Matasi.

“I wish to thank them all and wish them a prosperous year in 2019. We are heading to the Africa Cup of Nations and this is an opportunity to make the country proud. We will not let them down,” he added.

FESTIVE SEASON

The shot-stopper is currently based in the Ethiopian capital with St George after sealing a reported Sh5 million transfer from Kenyan Premier League side Tusker FC.

And perhaps to reduce on the loneliness during the festive season, the former Tusker and AFC Leopards keeper has flown in his better half Christabel to Addis.

“She has supported me even when times were hard. I brought her here so we can be together, reflect on the past and plan for the future,” Matasi said.

The couple is blessed with a son, named Lincolyn.
