Masoud Juma on trials with South Africa’s Bidvest Wits

Weeks after a failed attempt to land a professional move in Sweden, Kenyan striker Masoud Juma has now trained his sights on finding himself a club in South Africa.

Reputable South African site Kick-Off is reporting the Kariobangi Sharks forward is now on trying out with South African champions Bidvest Wits.

The source further confirms that the lanky striker arrived in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 48 hours after scoring a brace to help club beat Sofapaka 3-1 in a GOtv Shield match.

He was due to start training with the Clever Boys on Thursday for an unspecified period of time.

TRIALS

Further reports suggest two other clubs in the PSL are eyeing Juma, who attended trials with top Sweden club AIK Fotball last month.

Juma, who has scored three league goals in the Kenyan league this season, attracted public attention in June, when he was surprisingly handed a starting berth in Kenya’s 1-2 loss to Sierra Leone in a 2019 Africa Nations Cup qualification match in Freetown.

The former Sony Sugar player will however have to be at his best to land himself a deal, considering the South African league hasn’t been the best hunting ground for Kenyan players in recent times.

Internationals Micheal Olunga, Jesse Were, Paul Were, Clifton Miheso and more recently Joseph Okumu are some of the Kenyan players who have found the going tough down South.
