Lethal striker Sserunkuma agrees to return to Gor Mahia

Ugandan striker Dan Sserunkuma has verbally agreed on a temporary deal to return to Gor Mahia with a formal announcement by both parties expected within the next 24 hours, Nairobi News understands.

The player will receive a Sh 100,000 in monthly stipend as per the deal, alongside training allowances and match winning bonuses as stipulated by the club’s scheme.

No sign on fees will be paid to the player, who has insisted a release clause be inserted in the contract, should a club from Sudan, South Africa or Europe show an interest in his services.

The move is now awaiting the seal of club chairman Ambrose Rachier.

K’OGALLO IS HOME

“Gor is the only home Ssere(nkuma) knows in Kenya. He is willing to make a return, and likewise we want him back. I am certain it (the move) will happen.” the club’s assistant secretary Amina Oketch told Nairobi News.

Oketch posted a picture of herself alongside the stocky forward on Facebook on Thursday morning, a development that triggered speculation.

Sserunkuma became a free agent earlier this week after Tanzanian club Simba SC reportedly activated a clause in his contract to sack him for performing below expectations.

Should the new deal with Gor Mahia materialise, the 26 year old will be formally registered by the Kenyan Premier League and Football Kenya Federation in readiness for the upcoming transfer window next month.

DEADLY STRIKING FORCE

He will then be in line to earn his second debut for the champions in a league match against Tusker on June 6, with a potentially deadly attacking strike force alongside Meddie Kagere and Micheal Olunga already mooted as a salivating prospect.

Gor Mahia has beaten Tusker and AFC Leopards to this deal. There were also pockets of interest in the player from Sudan outfit Al Khartoum.
