Leopards keen on signing Sserunkuma

AFC Leopards will consider recruiting Ugandan forward Dan Sserunkuma next month if “the player becomes available”.

The former Gor Mahia forward ditched the Kenyan Premier League for its Tanzanian equivalent last December, but is said to be unsettled at Simba SC where he is yet to replicate his renowned goal scoring prowess.

Speculation has been rife over the Ugandan international striker’s future over the past few weeks, in the wake of his consistent visits to Nairobi amid repeated omissions from coach Goran Kuponovic’s match day squad.

“Nobody doubts the player’s quality in Kenya,” Leopards organising secretary Timothy Lilumbi told Nairobi News.

OUT OF THE STARTING LINE UP

“We are looking for some money to bolster our squad in the next couple of weeks and if the player or his representatives are receptive, we can go talk to Simba over a short term arrangement,” Lilumbi said.

Sserunkuma has been kept out of Simba’s starting line up this season by compatriot Emmanuel Okwi and Ibrahim Ajibu.

Ghanaian striker Aboagye Gerson landed in Tanzania last week for a week long trial at Simba. This developments, coupled with the impending return of Mungai Kiongera to the Msimbazi street side could spell more trouble for Sserunkuma.

Kiongera is currently on loan a six-month loan at KCB from Simba, an arrangement that expires this month.
