It’s Nondies, KCB in final
Defending champions Nondescripts RFC will lock horns with KCB in the Impala Floodlit Tournament final this weekend.
Nondies blanked varsity side Mean Machine 30-0 to book their place in the final, while KCB beat hosts Impala 18-6 to secure their place in the final.
Mean Machine and Impala will curtain raise the grand finale in the third place playoff, before paving way for Nondies and KCB who will battle it out for the Sh200,000 cash prize.
Machine, who have won 9 titles since the tournament’s inception, have promised to regroup and win their 10th title next year. Nondies have now won six titles, and will be looking to lift their seventh title come Saturday.
Brilliant try
Nondies will look to Filden Sinei, Teddy Salano and former Kenya sevens player Ben Nyambu, who was in brilliant form last week.
Nyambu scored a brilliant try after dummying the entire Machine defense line and sprinting 40 metres to score.
KCB on the other hand will derive inspiration from new recruits Max Adaka and Allan Omuka, who have crossed over from Kenya Harlequins.
The two were responsible for breaking Impala’s hearts in the semifinals.
Strathmore Leos’ second team will face Blak Blad in the final of the Universities category after they blanked USIU 32-5.
Blad pipped Catholic University of East Africa 18-17 to set a date with Leos.
The schools’ category will see Alliance play giant killing Ofafa Jericho, who have transferred their Prescott Cup form to the floodies.
Alliance beat Makini 30-7 in the semis, while Ofafa surprised Mang’u 8-3.
The semi finals were full of colour, with several fans braving the rain to cheer their teams on.
For the first time, the tournament had a village where fans could access food and refreshments to energise themselves for the action packed games.
Many supporters lauded the organisation.
