Has Kenyans’ love affair with Kipchoge Keino come to a tragic end?

Kenya’s two time Olympic gold medalist Kipchoge Keino was on the chopping board on Monday after threatening that Kenya could be banned from  participating the Games if he is arrested over the Rio fiasco.

The head of the Kenya Olympic Committee has been facing calls to quit alongside his colleagues over the mistreatment of athletes at the Rio Olympics earlier this month.

But while some of his colleagues have already been arrested and arraigned in court, Keino stood his ground dangling the warning.

For starters, Keino is one of the most celebrated Kenyan track and field athletes who put the country on the world map in the sixties.

He won men’s 1500m gold medal at the 1968 summer Olympics in Mexico and another gold in the men’s 3000m steeplechase in Munich Germany, four years later.

But Kenyans on Twitter were not impressed by his threat. Here are a few tweets.
