Gor Mahia keen on re-signing Rwandan striker Kagere

Rwandan striker Meddie Kagere could return to Gor Mahia barely six months after leaving the club, a source at the Kenyan Premier League champions has revealed.

Also on the club’s wishlist during the mid-season transfer window is Mathare United midfielder Eric Johanna.

According to a senior administrator of the club, Gor’s Mahia Brazilian coach Ze Maria has given the thumbs up for the signing of the two players.

“These two are the players the coach wants, he says they will significantly improve the squad and give us a better chance of winning the league,” the official told Nairobi News.

SUCCESSFUL STINT

Kagere, an experienced Rwandan international who is currently unattached, enjoyed a successful season-long stint at Gor Mahia in 2015, but left after failing to agree on new terms.

Gor Mahia’s other target is midfielder Johanna, who currently turns out for Mathare United.

The 22 year old, who won the KPL midfielder of the year award last season, has followed it up with impressive performances for the national team. He has also scored four goals and provided five assists in nine league games this season.

Gor Mahia, who are seeking a fourth consecutive league title, are currently placed fourth in the KPL standings with points 20 points, behind Tusker (24), Mathare United (23) and Posta Rangers (21) after 12 rounds of matches.
