By DAVID KWALIMWA September 14th, 2015 1 min read

Beer manufacturer Keroche Breweries is warming up to a sponsorship deal with premier league giants Gor Mahia, Nairobi News has established.

Negotiations between the two parties on a possible multi-million shilling sponsorship deal are at an advanced stage, according to our sources

Officials negotiating the deal have however opted not to comment on the subject so as not “to jeopardize the talks”.

Keroche’s entry into local football coincides with the departure of its rival East African Breweries Limited, who were ebbed out as the premier league’s sponsor by betting firm SportPesa.

The Naivasha based company is keen to tap in on the country’s most popular game and most popular club.

Gor Mahia FC players toured Keroche Breweries plant in Naivasha on Saturday ahead of their encounter with Ulinzi Stars, in an event that was highly publicized by both parties.

The visit was preceded by a communique on Gor Mahia’s official website confirming the trip which stated in part that; “Keroche becomes the first corporate firm to extend a helping hand to the Gor Mahia since the club’s last sponsorship deal ended in early 2013.”

The statement was accompanied by a picture bearing the beaming smile of Keroche MD Tabitha Karanja.

The statement did not, however, substantiate on the “helping hand” part.

Separately another picture on Kercoche Breweries Twitter handle showed the champions elect’s duo of Godfrey Walusimbi and Meddie Kagere.
