Gor Mahia blocks Kahata’s dream of cashing millions in Simba deal

Tanzanian giants Simba have ended their interest in Kenyan forward Francis Kahata and opted to sign Cletous Chama from Zambia top flight side Lusaka Dynamos.

The Zambia international landed in Dar es Salaam on Thursday night and is expected to put pen to paper on a two year deal with a $50,000 (Ksh5 million) signing bonus.

Chama is said to have terminated his contract with Dynamos after failing to receive his salary for four months. He is a left footed playmaker who can play centrally or on the left side of midfield.

The ‘Wekundu wa Msimbazi’ turned to Chama as a ‘Plan B’ after failing to lure Kahata from Gor Mahia.

This despite informally offering the Kenyan champions Sh5 million as transfer fees and promising the player a similar amount as signing bonus.

Kahata was also thought to have been offered a Sh400,000 salary alongside other benefits.

The 28-year-old player has a year left with his contract at Gor Mahia and is expected to feature prominently in the club’s pursuit for local and continental glory.
