How goofy politicians got it wrong on Kenya’s sevens rugby win


Eager to be part of the national Sevens Rugby team’s success in Singapore over the weekend, a clique of politicians instead left social media in stitches for posting inaccurate congratulatory messages to the Benjamin Ayimba team.

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Kiambu Governor were on the spotlight for congratulating the Shujaas for “winning the World Cup”.

Only that the Kenyan side had won a leg of the IRB Series games after beating Fiji in the finale.

Kisii Governor Evans Ongwae meanwhile, not only congratulated the side for winning the World Cup, but was perhaps quick in his typing and ended up writing the world Rugby as “Ruby”.

Bungoma Senator Moses “Weta” Wetangula wasn’t to be left behind this time round.

He referred to the national Sevens team as “safari sevens”.
