FKF, Sportpesa launch shield tournament targeting 64 teams

Football Kenya Federation has partnered with leading sports betting company SportPesa to launch this year’s FKF Shield tournament, which has now been renamed to Sportpesa Shield.

This year’s tourney is expected to feature 64 football clubs and is scheduled to kick off on June 1, 2018.

The winner of the football tournament is expected to walk away with Ksh 2 million in cash prize and the team will also represent the country in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

“We thank SportPesa for agreeing to be the official title sponsor for this year’s FKF Shield tournament, which for commercial purposes will for the next three years be known as the SportPesa Shield,” announced FKF president Nick Mwendwa.

“The SportPesa Shield will provide an invaluable opportunity for the teams to showcase their best talent. We’re looking forward to walking this path with our partners FKF all the way,” said SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri.
