Brazilian coach favourite to take charge of Gor Mahia
Brazilian national Roberto Oliviera Gonclaves seems to be the favourite for appointment for the vacant coaching job at Gor Mahia.
The Kenyan champions have intensified the search for a foreign trainer to replace Englishman Dylan Kerr who left the club a few days ago and has since joined South Africa’s Black Leopards.
According to Rwandan vernacular publication Umuryango, the Brazilian coach, currently is in charge of Rayon Sport, is considered front-runner after initial talks between the Kenyan club and Belgian trainer Luc Eymael broke down.
OUT OF THE RUNNING
“Gor Mahia’s leaders have been aware for some time that Kerr will be leaving and after Everton’s 4-0 win in a recent friendly between the two teams, they called Robertino on the phone and talks are far away,” the publication reported.
However, Eymael, who has previously managed AFC Leopards, has already ruled himself out of the running to take over at K’Ogalo.
STAND-IN COACH
“I spoke to the (Gor Mahia) chairman on phone about the opportunity but can confirm to you that I will not be coming there (in Kenya) to work. I will let you know when I sign for another club. That will be the right time because I have several other offers to consider,” Eymael has been quoted saying.
Besides Oliviera, it is understood Briton Jamie Day and current stand-in coach Zedekiah Otieno remain in the frame with Otieno expected to take charge of the match against Malawi’s Nyasa Bullets in the preliminaries of the Caf Africa Champions League on November 28.
