Athlete Semenya to marry girlfriend
Caster Semenya is reportedly set to marry girlfriend and fellow athlete Violet Raseboya.
South African newspaper Daily Sun reports that Semenya, 23, sent her parents to Raseboya’s family in Polokwane to negotiate lobola (dowry).
According to a source, both families were happy to negotiate lobola, with Semenya’s family paying R25 000.
Semenya first shot to stardom when she won gold in the women’s 800m at the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Berlin, before being controversially subjected to gender testing.
Preparations for the wedding are reportedly under way, reports the site.
