Sonko steals show with fleet of limos during Shujaa’s return – PHOTOS


Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko splashed millions of shillings to hand the triumphant national sevens rugby team a befitting welcome on Tuesday afternoon.

The Shujaa defeated  Fiji 30-7 on Sunday in Singapore to claim a first ever main cup win in the IRB circuit.

Senator Sonko, renowned for flamboyance and generosity, arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) accompanied by a fleet of limousines attached to his Sonko rescue team.

Later at a reception held at Ole Sereni hotel to honour the team’s achievement, the Senator gave out sh100, 000 to each of the 12 players.

The politician later wrote on his Facebook page; “I participated in welcoming Our Rugby Team heroes, I have also pledged 100K for each player to keep their motivation high.”

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to host the team at State House Nairobi on Wednesday.

Senator Sonko has announced he will seek to unseat incumbent Governor Evans Kidero in the forthcoming general elections.
