Sonko seeks to starve Kidero of cash over graft claims
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko is seeking to have county operations grounded by starving City Hall of cash until he gets answers to what he terms as gross corruption in the county.
“I am still pursuing the freezing of Nairobi City County accounts until the office of the Governor accounts for all the monies received from the Transition Authority, the central government, grants, bank loans and revenues collected locally,” said Sonko in a press notice.
He said that the only money he would not block is that of county staff and essential services like health.
In the press notice, titled ” Why I skipped budget meeting for Nairobi county“, Senator Sonko explained that he will not be used to rubber stamp the ” looting of public funds and theft of public property”.
