Sonko comes to the rescue of Kibra KCPE boy

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko over the weekend came to the rescue of a Kibra boy who scored 427 marks in this year’s KCPE.

Sonko offered to sponsor Michael Amuka’s full school fees and shopping throughout his secondary education.

Michael’s mother Esther also received Sh100, 000 to start a business of her choice.

The widow explained how she had been washing people’s clothes to raise her son’s school fees and thanked the governor for changing her life.

BECOME A PILOT

Michael was a pupil at Mashimoni Primary in Kibra and had dreamed of joining Frieds School Kamusinga and eventually become a pilot.

Michael and his mother will be required to present the secondary school calling letter to the governor’s office in order receive a banker’s cheque for the full fees.

Sonko wrote on his facebook page that he was touched by Michael’s story and offered to help him achieve his dreams.

“As a permanent solution, my administration is putting measures in place to protect vulnerable families. As soon as I appoint my chief officers this coming week, the Nairobi County bursary kitty will be reactivated to cater for needy students,” Sonko wrote.
