Nairobians are equally divided on who between incumbent Dr Evans Kidero and Senator Mike Sonko will get their vote in the August 8 elections.

A new opinion poll released Thursday morning showed Senator Sonko and Governor Kidero each garnered 44% support for the top seat.

Independent candidates Peter Kenneth and Miguna Miguna garnered 4%  and 1% support respectively from respondents.

Seven per cent of respondents remain undecided.

The poll was conducted two weeks ago by Trends and Insights for Africa (Tifa) and involved a sample size of 2, 122 people.

In the senatorial race, Johnson Sakaja (Jubilee Party) leads with 40% support, followed by Edwin Sifuna (ODM) who enjoys 23% support.

Significantly, 33% of the respondents are undecided.

Support for Esther Passaris (ODM) has declined by 7% to 50% in the Woman Representative race, while her main rival Rachel Shebesh (Jubilee Party) got a surge of 6% to poll at 31%.

Overally, the opposition coalition Nasa enjoys a bigger support in Nairobi county, polling at 53%, while President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party polled at 38%.
