Sofapaka rearing to go

League runners up Sofapaka are relishing the prospects of continental football following their GOtv Shield conquest.

Team captain Felly Mulumba, veteran striker John Baraza, red-hot striker Enoch Agwanda and the 2014 KPL Player of the Year Anthony Ndolo told NTV’s weekly sports magazine show Top Sport that they psyched up for the   challenge that comes with participating in continental assignment.

Batoto ba Mungu had a great run the last time they participated in the Caf Confederations Cup (2011) with Egyptian giants Ismailia among their casualties.

“We are all looking forward to that challenge,” said the towering Mulumba who underscored his credentials as a refined centre- half and team leader last season.

On the other hand, Agwanda who emerged as the club’s top scorer in the ended campaign with 11 league goals will expressed his desire to make a name in his debut at this stage.

“I am excited. Winning the GOtv Shield was great but now we have another challenge which we must confront,” he said.

Club President Elly Kalekwa, on his part, said continental asignments come with huge financial implications.

“We have a very  good coach (Sam Timbe). He is very experienced and now we have to ensure we uphold our good performance because continental football will require us to dig deep into our pockets,” Kalekwa.”
