CBD.

There was drama at the Registrar of Marriages chambers as a planned wedding was stopped at the eleventh hour.

Andreas Knobel, a German national was about to tie the knot with Karen Bwire when a court order was served on him stopping the ceremony.

The dumbstruck groom left the chambers leaving behind an equally surprised bride.

Mr Knobel studied the order in the hallway as his guests tried to calm him down.

According to Lucy Momanyi, a lawyer, a 24-years old Mombasa woman is accusing Mr Knobel of neglecting his parental duties.

The order had been dated January 9, just a day before the planned wedding.

“My client learnt very late of the wedding and after a magistrate issued the order I took a flight to be here on time,” said Momanyi.

According to the order, Roselyn Atieno gave birth to a daughter on December, 20, 2013 at St Hilaria’s Medical Clinic and claims the baby was sired by Mr Knobel.

Ms Atieno, a secretary, wants the German to pay her Sh100,000 each month pending the outcome of the suit.

The order also forbids Knobel from leaving the country before the hearing of the case on January 27.
