Shouldn’t fibre optics firms compensate us?

For the umpteenth time I ask the county planning department, for how long must businesses be inconvenienced as contractors laying fire optics cables dig up our pavements after every few weeks?

Does the department take into consideration the amount of money we lose because accessing our shops is a matter of jumping trenches deep enough to break a prospective customer’s legs?

Shouldn’t the fibre optics firms compensate us for lost business?
