Shock winners at Groove Awards as top musicians bite dust – PHOTOS
Top gospel musicians were floored by new artistes at the 11th annual Groove Awards held on Wednesday.
Daddy Owen was the biggest casualty of the soft coup in the gospel music industry, after he walked away empty handed from the awards held on Wednesday afternoon at the Safaricom indoor arena, Kasarani.
The singer had six nominations for Male Artiste of the Year, Collabo of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Afro Pop Song of the Year and Video of the Year.
He was beaten by the surprise winner of the afternoon L-Jay Maasai in the Male Artiste of the Year category.
Songstress Mercy Masika won Song Of The Year and Female Artist Of The Year categories respectively.
Kelele Takatifu won in the Group of the Year category.
Wednesday’s event was hosted by Dj Soxxy and Size 8 and featured performances by Eunice Njeri, Pitson, Guardian Angel, Gloria Muliro and Mercy Masika.
