Shock as man decapitates daughter, kills wife and self in macabre attack
Villagers in Mutarakwa village in Kinangop constituency were on Monday reeling in shock and disbelief after a casual worker killed his wife and their nine year-old daughter, before hanging himself.
Njabini Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Yawa Chome said it was not immediately clear what prompted the fight between the couple that ended tragically.
He said the casual labourer on Saturday evening attacked the two, inflicting deep wounds on the head and the neck, before he also committed suicide.
CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP
“We are still trying to establish what transpired between the couple with neighbors saying the family enjoyed a cordial relationship,” said the police boss.
He said they were alerted by the man’s son after his father’s mobile phone went unanswered for the better part of Sunday morning.
“The son grew suspicious and went to his parents’ home to find out what was happening,” said Mr Chome.
FORCED THE DOOR OPEN
The OCPD revealed that the son, assisted by villagers forced the door open, only to encounter the lifeless body of the casual worker dangling from the rooftop.
On the blood splattered floor was also the lifeless body of the 39-year-old wife and the daughter.
Mr Chome said they suspect the man attacked his family members on Saturday night, before he hanged himself.
He said the bodies were later taken to the Engineer hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
