Village left in shock after 12-year-old girl commits suicide

Shock and grief engulfed Mawe Village in Rongai, Nakuru County after a 12-year-old girl committed suicide under mysterious circumstances.

Faith Gesare, a class six pupil is alleged to have taken her life by consuming poison on Friday.

Her father Harun Ongacho said her daughter died while receiving first aid at a hospital in Rongai where she was rushed to, after they discovered that she had consumed a lethal substance.

DEVASTATED

The devastated father said his daughter’s weird behavior was noted by his brother with whom she gone to a nearby stream to fetch water.

The father revealed that the deceased’s brother witnessed the incident immediately after she had swallowed the poison.

“I was informed by one of my sons who witnessed her collapse after the poison took toll of her. I rushed to the scene where I found her on the ground writhing in pain. Efforts to resuscitate her using milk bore no fruit,” said the father.

INVESTIGATIONS

The brother said her last born sister could not speak after taking the poison.

Rongai Officer Commanding Police Division(OCPD) Japhet Kioko, who confirmed the death, said police have launched investigations into the matter to establish the circumstances that led to the incident.

The body of the girl was taken to the Nakuru county mortuary.
