How Sara Mitaru’s new musical show went down – PHOTOS
Emmy nominated artiste Sara Mitaru on Friday brought out her unique brand of bass heavy Afro-Soul music at a first of its kind show dubbed ASH (Acoustic Songwriters Hub), where songwriters come together.
They follow a simple format where each artiste sings an ‘Angry song’, a ‘Sad song’ and a ‘Happy song’.
The event has been running successfully for over a year with monthly shows each with a different theme.
The uniqueness of the show is in music experience that mixes genres of music as the audience sits quietly to listen each time.
MUSICAL SHOW
In the month of March and April ASH partnered with Ciroc Vodka for the show.
The event was created by among others music producer David “King David” Muthami.
The musical show borrows heavily from the orchestra performance, whereby all guests get to enjoy music for an hour and a half, followed by a networking session.
NEW SONGS
In the April edition, which was held at Argenti Restaurant – Riverside drive, ASH entertainment featured Juliani who performed three new songs, which were treated to a jazzy tune by Sara and acclaimed pianist Kaima Mwiti.
The March edition featured Atemi Oyungu and Nivrii the songwriter behind Sauti Sol hit Melanin.
Mitaru describes herself as someone “doing my part to put East African music on the global map.”
