Salim resigns, Onyiso takes over Ulinzi
Former Kenyan international goal keeper Francis Onyiso will take charge of premier league side Ulinzi Stars on an acting capacity following the resignation of Coach Salim Ali.
Coach Ali tendered his resignation letter, dated March 18, stating he will leave the club after the match against Tusker on Saturday.
“I Salim Ali Ramadhan hereby tender my resignation as head coach of Ulinzi Stars with effect from March 22 after the match against Tusker FC.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve as head coach of Ulinzi Stars. I wish the club grows from strength to strength,” read the letter seen by Nairobi News.
But according to club CEO Captain Joe Birgen, the club will not allow Coach Ali to be in charge of the Tusker fixture and has opted to release him immediately.
“We don’t think he is in the right frame of mind to take charge of the team on Saturday and we therefore released him and put Onyiso in charge” said Mr Birgen.
Mr Ali has been under pressure following the team’s awful start to the season that sees them languishing at 11th place in the league with no win after 5 games.
He joined the former KPL Champions after a six-months stay at Sofapaka.
Mr Ali has also coached Mathare United.
He becomes the third coach to lose his job in the league after Oliver Page at Nakuru All Stars and Francis Baraza at Western Stima.
Francis Baraza was later appointed as Muhoroni head coach.
