Robbery suspect ordered to undergo pregnancy test

A Kibera court has ordered a middle-aged woman accused of robbing former Nyaribari Chache MP Dr Robert Mondah and his wife of mobile phones and cash to undergo a pregnancy test.

Principal Magistrate Lucas Onyina said he wanted to be certain whether Ms Rodashia Wanjiku is pregnant as she alleges.

“Let her undergo a pregnancy test before I decide on her application for bail,” Mr Onyina ordered.

Ms Wanjiku appeared pregnant while in the dock charged with two counts of robbery with violence.

She allegedly robbed Dr Mondah of two mobile phone valued at Sh155,000, a tablet, a wrist watch and Sh75,000 cash.

According to the charge sheet, the offence was committed at Kerarapon in Kajiado County on January 10 this year.

In a second count, she was charged with robbing Mrs Joyce Onsare of two mobile phones, a watch and Sh9, 700 while armed with a pistol.

She was arrested on January 23 at Tena estate, Nairobi, by detectives tracking the phones stolen from the politician.

She was allegedly found in possession of a Sony Errickson phone that was stolen from Mrs Onsare at gun point.

Wanjiku denied all the charges and applied for bond but was remanded until Tuesday when the pregnancy test report will be produced in court.
