Robbers walked away with Sh40m in I&M bank heist
Police have disclosed that over Sh40 million was stolen during the Sunday night robbery at I&M Bank branch in Changamwe Road, in Industrial Area.
Nairobi County deputy police commandant Moses Ombati said they are suspecting the robbery was as a result of an inside job.
According to Mr Ombati, the bank is still balancing its accounts but initial estimates show that more than Sh40 million was lost in the robbery.
Makadara OCPD Nehemiah Lagat had on Monday explained that the robbers broke the back door to the bank and stole the amount.
“We have arrested the guards on duty for interrogation as we suspect that they collaborated with the thugs to steal from the bank” Mr Lagat had said.
