Revealed: Nkana not the only Zambian club that wanted Keli

Another top Zambian club failed in its bid to acquire the services of Kenya international Jacob Keli last month, Nairobi News can exclusively reveal.

According to documents in Nairobi News’ possession, Power Dynamos had formally requested for the services of the former AFC Leopards player at about the same time he completed the move to Nkana FC.

Keli, who eventually joined Nkana FC on a two-year contract effective July 1, 2015, is due to leave the country on Friday afternoon for Kitwe, Zambian.

“Our club hereby formally expresses interests in acquiring Jacob Keli, a footballer at AFC Leopards in the Kenyan Premier League,” a letter from a Dynamos official dated 28th May 2015 reads.

Besides Dynamos, who have won Zambia’s top flight competition on six occasions, local sides Tusker and Nakumatt were also reported to be interested in the player.

Keli who scored eight goals for Leopards during the opening half of the KPL season, is expected to get an immediate starting role in the Zambian team’s squad.
