If you thought Oscar winners do not audition for new films and are instead directly approached by directors, you are dead wrong!

Lupita Nyong’o had to use her hands as a gun while auditioning for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

During an interview on the Ellen Show, the Oscar winner revealed that at the time she didn’t even know what movie she was auditioning for.

“I was so busy I was working with adrenaline so I went in and out. I barely remember that audition and then two months later he called me,” Lupita said during the interview.

She said that the only thing she knew was that the director was working on a big movie and even during the audition, no details were divulged as she had to read a substitute script.

“I remember crouching around and I was using my hands as a gun, I remember that. I was in Morocco on holiday and he called me at my hotel and said, ‘I have this motion-capture role that I’m considering you for,’ recalled the actress.

Lupita lit the red carpet during the Monday night world premiere of the movie as she donned a glittery Alexandre Vauthier couture gown.

The gown that was floor-length had been designed to allow her to flaunt some skin as it had side cut-outs and an open back.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to hit theaters on Friday with Lupita playing the mysterious Pirate Queen Maz Kanata.
