Relief as buses slash fares in bebapay offer
Commuters using Thika superhighway will this week enjoy a rare 50 per cent discount when paying fare using the bebapay system.
The offer is on all buses plying the highway and will include random performances in the buses by musicians Wyre and Nameless.
The offer runs for the whole week and is meant to encourage commuters to use the cashless fare payment platform.
Simon Mwangi @simonynsky tweeted on Tuesday, “Thank you BebaPay, Paid Ksh.35 instead of Ksh. 70 then got 50% of the Ksh.35 back. Whoohoo!!!”
The tap-to-pay technology is touted as a solution to many of the problems bedevilling the public transport industry.
Matatu crews were said to be the greatest hindrance to implementation of the technology.
The crews said the system denies them money to bribe police officers when they flout traffic rules.
