Refugees now in rush to be taken back to camps

Thousands of refugees on Monday voluntarily turned up at the Kamukunji Deputy County Commissioner’s office to be registered for relocation to refugee camps.

The group consisted of refugees registered in either Kakuma or Dadaab camps, but who had sneaked to urban centres.

The rush for relocation back to the refugee camps follows security swoops conducted over the weekend in which people without identification documents were being marked for repatriation to Somalia.

Kenyan police forces have been conducting the security swoops in Nairobi to crackdown on illegal immigrants and suspected terrorist cells.
