Ray C: I sold my house to buy drugs


Tanzanian musician Ray C at one point sold her house and property in order to get money to buy drugs, it has emerged.

The musician, in an one-on-one interview with Taifa Leo’s Bambika magazine Friday, also reveals that she closed down all her businesses to finance her lifestyle.

“I have learnt that it does not matter how wealthy you are. If you start abusing drugs you will go bankrupt,” she said.

The musician, who quit drug abuse in 2012 and has since set up a foundation help addicts, says she used huge amounts of money on the drugs. “Tears fill my eyes each time I remember,” she said.

HOOKED UP

She says she was introduced into the murky world of drug abuse by one her ex-boyfriends and being a blonde on matters drugs, was unaware that he abused drugs when they hooked up.

Ray C, who in her heydays left men drooling with her erotic dance moves, says she was a blonde on matters drugs and could not tell apart bhang from the other substances.

“Slowly by slowly, I found myself using all types of drugs,” she says. “My body started wasting away and I could not do without taking the drugs. My body would ache if I did use them.”

She also addresses rumours of bleaching her skin as well as her relationship with Tanzania’s president Jakaya Kikwete.
