Raila: Shoot me instead of killing young people – VIDEO

By HILARY KIMUYU November 25th, 2017 1 min read

Nasa leader Raila Odinga says he is ready to take a bullet and even die, if that is what the Jubilee government is hellbent on achieving in the pretext of a clampdown on his supporters.

Speaking on Friday while presiding over a fund raiser in Nairobi to help meet funeral expenses of those who were killed between November 17, Mr Odinga further demanded that the police should stop killing young innocent people with families to take care of.

“If Raila is the problem, arrest him… arrest him. Take him to prison… take him to jail. And if you want to shoot, shoot Raila! Kill him… kill him. But then don’t kill these young precious lives,” Odinga said.

He has also accused the government of instituting state-sponsored police killings and use of force to repulse his supporters who turned out to receive him from his 10-day tour of the US last week.

On Friday, Nasa took a full-page newspaper advert to mourn 26 people it said were victims of police brutality and called on well-wishers to support their families.

According to Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, 54 people have been killed in recent weeks of confrontation between Nasa supporters and the police, although the police have dispute these numbers.
