Raila must be arrested for his utterances, Itumbi insists

Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, Mr Dennis Itumbi, has maintained that Cord leader Raila Odinga must be arrested for his alleged inflammatory remarks.

Last week Mr Itumbi called for Mr Odinga’s arrest for the remarks he made at a rally in Narok County last Saturday calling on Kenyans to arm themselves and forcefully remove the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC) from office.

However, his position has been contradicted by government spokesman, Eric Kiraithe, who said the opposition leader will not be arrested.

Mr Kiraithe said the government read Mr Odinga’s remarks as a ploy to get himself arrested and justify the notion that the government of the day is suppressing the opposition.

TO BE INVESTIGATED

But in a Facebook post that was clearly addressed to Mr Kiraithe, Mr Itumbi said no single politician should get away with such remarks.

This comes even after the National Cohesion and Integration Commission chairman Francis ole Kaparo said the body would investigate Mr Odinga regarding the utterances.

Mr Kaparo told Parliament’s Joint Committee on Cohesion and Integration that there was need for such an investigation before a decision was made.
