The National Super Alliance (Nasa) is planning a heroic welcome for its leader Raila Odinga, who is expected back in the country on Thursday from the US.

Siaya Senator James Orengo, former Senators Johnston Muthama (Machakos) and Boni Khalwale (Kakamega) said that Mr Odinga will receive a “grand reception that has never been witnessed before”’ in the country.

The leaders spoke on Sunday at Jacaranda grounds in Embakasi, Nairobi.

“We will walk to the airport to receive Mr Odinga who is our leader. There will be only four cars for Raila, Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetang’ula. The rest of us, Orengo included and our supporters will walk side by side to welcome our leader back home,” Mr Muthama said.

THINK-TANK GROUP

Mr Odinga went to the US last week, where he met Congressional committees and also addressed Centre for Strategic and International Studies, a US think-tank group.

On Sunday, Mr Orengo said the establishment of the People’s Assembly would give Kenyans an alternative leadership.

On Tuesday last week, the Nasa leaders dispatched motions to various county assemblies across the country to establish the assembly and also pass a resolution not to recognise the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Once established, the assemblies will push for constitutional, electoral changes as well as elections within 90 days, Nasa says.
