Raila calls for calm ahead of Gor elections

Former Prime Minister and Gor Mahia patron Raila Odinga has appealed to the club’s fans to remain calm and support the current management until elections to usher a new team are held.

On Sunday, the much awaited Gor Mahia elections aborted after chaos erupted.

GSU officers intervened after it turned that voting materials were not enough. The irate crowd burnt the election material.

Mr Odinga, in a statement on Monday,  appealed to Gor Mahia fans and members to exercise restraint and work together as before the elections are held.

“Gor’s patron appeals to the playing unit and the technical bench to support the current management and remain committed and focused as the club prepares for its continental assignment after a long fought battle”, read the statement.

Mr Odinga  further called on the fans to show support for the Premier League Champions ahead of the next season.

Earlier on Monday, the Football Kenya Federation ordered that the current management led by Chairman Ambrose Rachier remain in office not later than January 30 2014 by which he must have organised a free and fair contest.

The main battle in the elections pit’s Rachier against Dr. Eric Adede in the fight for the top post.
