Policeman arrested after losing his gun while heading to Umoja Estate


A police officer has been arrested after he lost his official firearm.

The officer, who is stationed at Kamukunji Police Station, lost his Ceska Pistol which was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunitions.

He was arrested when he reported back to work on Monday and was at pains to explain how he lost his firearm.

According to police report, the officer had not reported to work for four days.

The officer insisted he had no idea how he lost his pistol. When questioned further, he said he misplaced it while on his way to his residence in Umoja Estate.

The officer is being held as investigations continue.

In another incident at the National Archives, two police officers attached at the institution along Moi Avenue reported that a man who works there collapsed and died.

The employee was on duty and was rushed to MP Shah hospital after he collapsed but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body is at the hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy.
