Police inspect Umoinner fleet

October 31st, 2013 1 min read

Hundreds of morning commuters in Umoja estate were left stranded after Police ordered owners of the Umoinner sacco to submit all their vehicles for inspection.

Nairobi County Police  boss Benson Kibue ordered all vehicles belonging to the sacco to be taken to traffic headquarters along Thika road for inspection.

The order follows Wednesday’s accident at Mutindwa level crossing involving one of the sacco’s vehicles and a commuter train that left 12 people dead.

The order occasioned a heavy traffic snarl up along Outer Ring from the  Mutindwa area road towards Donholm as commuters sought alternatives means of reaching the city centre.
