More than Sh6 million in fake Kenyan currency has been recovered and impounded by the police from a house in Mtwapa.

According to police, they raided the house following a tip-off from the members of public but no arrest was made.

Police believe that the illegal business could be part of an international cartel which has been in operation for a long time after they confiscated documents which indicated they were working with foreigners.

ESCAPED

A search by the police officers recovered fake currency in denomination of Sh1,000, amounting to a total of Sh6.67 million.

They also found chemicals used to process the money including glycerine and aluminum foil in a vehicle parked outside the suspect’s house.

Police now are looking for the owner of the car and the house who are believed to have escaped when the police raided the house. The vehicle was towed to a police station.
