AWOL cop shot dead in Eastleigh


A former police officer who deserted duty last year was on Tuesday night shot dead along Eastleigh’s Muratina Street.

The former sergeant, Adow Hussein who worked at the Criminal Investigation Unit was shot as he returned to his brother’s house in Eastleigh at 9:30pm.

His brother’s statement at the Pangani Police Station stated that they had gone to visit an ailing child at the Afnan Nursing home and as they were returning to his brother’s house, a car with two men inside blocked their way.

“The two alighted and shot Mr Odow leaving the taxi driver and the hiss brother unharmed. They then took off without stealing anything” Nairobi County Police Commandant, Benson Kibui said.

He said the victim was shot in the head and stomach and he died on the spot.

A police officer at the Pangani Police station stated that the victim was not living in Nairobi but in Naivasha.

“The man used to work in Kapenguria but when he was transferred, he decided to abandon work. But he did not resign” the police officer said.

On Monday morning, a man was killed along Muratina Street at 3:00am, as he was heading to butchery with his wife.

Mr Francis Mureithi Macharia was stabbed to death by a group of five young men.Nothing was stolen from him.

His wife was left unharmed.
