Police Constable charged with rape
A police officer was on Monday charged at a court in Molo with rape.
Constable John Waweru who appeared before Chief magistrate Rita Anwai was accused of raping (name withheld) on March 26 at Keringet Trading Centre, Kuresoi South within Nakuru County.
The court heard that Mr Waweru used his position as an officer employed by the National Police Service to instill fear to the victim by threatening to shoot her if she raised alarm.
The accused also faces other charges of sexually assaulting his victim and causing a bodily harm on her.
Mr Waweru, however, denied the charges and was released on Sh200,000 bond with surety of similar amount or an alternative cash bail of sh 100,000.
The case will be heard on November 26.
