Police holding woman over husband’s death

Police are holding a woman in connection to the murder of her husband in Eastleigh on Monday.

Betty Kinano was accompanying her husband Francis Macharia Mureithi to a butchery at 3:00am on Monday when they were accosted by a gang of five men.

“They beat up the man, stabbing him severally but did not steal anything from him. They did not touch the woman. She was not beaten,” Nairobi County police Commandant, Benson Kibue said.

The incident occurred along Muratina street in Eastleigh’s first Avenue.

Mr Kibui said the police suspect that the victim had been set up.

Police are trying to establish why the couple was heading to the butchery during the odd hours of the morning and why the woman was not touched by the assailants, he said.

“This could not have been a normal robbery because despite the man having carried valuables, he was not robbed,” Mr Kibue.
