Police gun down four robbers on motorcycles in Lang’ata

Police on Tuesday morning gunned down five suspected robbers and recovered two firearms loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition.

Four of the thugs, according to police, were on a mission to conduct an organized criminal activity in Langata.

Police had been trailing the robbers for several months in connection to a series of robberies and carjacking in Langata.

Police say the four had arranged to rob a company along Langata Road when they were accosted by police who had information from members of the public.

“In the first incident along Mukomah Road, police approached two of them on a motorcycle but the passanger who had an Ekol pistol fired two shots back at the officers,” Langata OCPD, Elijah Maina said.

He said police fired back at the two but the latter did not relent. A shootout ensued and the two were felled by police bullets.

The other two suspects, who were also on a motorcycle, were shot along Magadi Road as they escaped from the police.

The operation was conducted by police officers from the Special Crime Prevention Unit and those from Flying Squad.
