Police confirm Westlands attack, advise motorists to use alternative routes
Police have confirmed an ongoing attack at the 14 Riverside in Westlands Nairobi.
“Police wishes to confirm that there has been an attack incident along 14 Riverside Drive. The area has since been cordoned off and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to facilitate smooth operations of the Police,” said police on Twitter.
The attack happened sometime at 3:15pm. First it was a loud bang, possibly a bomb before gun shots rented the air. The attack happened on 14 Riverside, the compound that houses Dusit 2 hotel and the Commission on Revenue Allocation offices.
A colleague who is inside the besieged building said: “They have been combing the building and shooting aimlessly. It’s too scary to imagine. I’m inside the building which is under attack. It’s real guys. Had gone to interview CRA guys. I’m too scared for my life.” He added: “It’s silent now. Though we can hear somebody trying to break the doors.”
