Police arrest suspects ferrying seven tusks in Karen

Police have arrested two people found  transporting seven elephant tusks on Mbogani road in Karen.

According to reports, police received a tip-off from the public.

The tusks weighed 17 kilograms and are estimated to be worth approximately Sh1.7 million.

Police spokesperson Ms Zipporah Mboroki said that the two men will appear in court on Tuesday to face charges.

“These two suspects will be arraigned in court tomorrow (Tuesday) to face charges of transporting elephant tusks which is illegal in the country,” said Ms Mboroki.

Two other suspects were last month arrested with 131 tusks following a tip-off from the public.
