PLO Lumumba accused of dishonesty in plagiarism case

By ABIUD OCHIENG December 14th, 2016 1 min read

The director of the Kenya School of Law, Prof Patrick Lumumba, has been granted more time to negotiate an out-of-court settlement in a plagiarism dispute.

This is after Mr Wachira Maina had accused Prof Lumumba of being dishonest.

Mr Maina claims that Prof Lumumba stole his work published in The EastAfrican in 2013 and published it in the Law Society journal.

Lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, who is representing Mr Maina, had claimed in the suit that the publication by the renowned orator is misleading, injurious and dishonest since it is being disseminated to Kenya School of Law students as PLO’s work.

Mr Imanyara accused the KSL director for dishonouring his office and therefore wants the court to suspend him from being the institution’s boss pending the hearing and determination of the case.

Justice Joseph Onguto on Tuesday directed that the matter be mentioned on February 15, next year to record a settlement.
