Peter Kenneth’s wife carjacked at gunpoint in posh city estate

A joint team of officers from the specialized units of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched investigations to recover two vehicles belonging to Mr Peter Kenneth’s wife and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nephew.

The two were carjacked in separate incidents on Saturday night in Spring Valley by armed gangs posing as guards, according to the Nairobi Police commander Japheth Koome.

As a result, a major operation was launched in Nairobi and its environs and the neighbouring Uganda where one of the vehicles is believed to have been driven to.

President Kenyatta’s nephew, Dr Njoroge Muigai, his wife and daughter were carjacked from their home in Kyuna Estate, driven almost 10 Kilometres away and abandoned unhurt.

Mr Kenneth’s wife, Ann Wanjiru, was also carjacked from the same estate and abandoned at the same spot where Dr Muigai and his family were found.

Dr Muigai’s Volkswagen Tiguan car was still missing on Monday, same as Ms Wanjiru’s Land-Rover Freelander.

Police said Ms Wanjiru was driving into their secured home along Kibarage Road in Spring Valley when the gang of two armed with pistols struck.

The gang had apparently arrived at the scene earlier and taken the guards on duty hostage, according to the police.

Nairobi County commander Japheth Koome said that the gang had stripped naked the guards on duty and took over, posing as guards.

They ushered in several vehicles before Ms Wanjiru who was driving herself arrived on Saturday at around 9.30pm.

After they were carjacked, the gang switched off the victim’s phones.
